Blog Round Up
2008 August 27
On the heels of my recent article on making games that are less than you’d hope them to be, I read an article on Yehuda’s blog, On Failure and Success.
Even a failure is not a failure when it is a necessary first step. The first layer of bricks that make a wall is not a failed wall. It’s a necessary part on which to place the next layer.
In other news, I’ve been posting reviews on non-digital games over on PlayThisThing.com, a site I highly recommend. This week, I reviewed Reiner Knizia’s Ingenious.

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.”
Samuel Beckett.
“Go on failing. Go on. Only next time, try to fail better.”
Samuel Beckett.
I also found this one tonight:
“Unless a reviewer has the courage to give you unqualified praise, I say ignore the bastard. ”
John Steinbeck
Wow, this is a harsh sounding one, but true I guess… its better to receive a critique from someone qualifed than receiving praise from someone who can’t tell quality.
“If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?” – George Carlin
