Irish Things That Would Make Good Game Topics
2008 March 11
I have a fascination with Irish history, and in honor of St. Patrick’s day and my heritage in general, here are some excellent topics for a game or interactive historical piece with roots in Irish history.
- Brian Boru
- Richard de Clare (Strongbow)
- This whole thing actually started because of an affair, oddly enough.
- Lebor Gabala Erenn
- And it’s already broken down into chapter format for you.
- John Boyle O’Reilly
- Mary Reid and Grainne O’Malley
- Viking invasion (800 AD) of Ireland and subsequent settlements
- The Kingdoms of Ancient Ireland
- The whole Druid culture, but that’s pretty well been done
Bonus trivia – the Bronze Age started in Ireland.
More topics tomorrow. I only get to do this once a year, so humor me.

Don’t forget CĂșchulainn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuchulainn
Nice start. Irish myths are tomorrow’s category. He’s my first guy.
I think a simple game for non-Irish history buffs would be the mythological story of St. Patrick. Basically would be about banishing snakes from Ireland.
Guinness vs Kilkenny drinking game — what better party game for freshmen!
Harp Wars.
